GOAL
Create an ambient marquee video for a tutorial about type with rounded corners

Animating the label onto the box.

The art director for a tutorial about rounded-corner typography asked me to create a looping, ambient video for the marquee (hero) position on the page.

The authors had already designed a comp in Adobe Photoshop showing a fancy candy box with a label that used a type style from the tutorial. I brought the layered Photoshop file into Adobe After Effects and animated across the different type designs. I then skewed the image so it appeared to fly away from the viewer and land on top of the box in the background.

Tweaking the video for social media.

The team wanted to get the word out on social media about the tutorial, so I created a separate video in Adobe Premiere Pro that used the same assets but focused on the individual letters rather than the whole word so it would suit the vertical format.

Unlike the ambient video for the article page, this video needed rhythm. I found a nice jazz drum solo on Adobe Stock to cut the visuals to.
